Influence of the Tropical Indian Ocean Tripole on Summertime Cold Extremes Over Central Siberia

چکیده
Abstract This study investigates the influence of interannual variability Indian Ocean tripole (IOT) on summertime cold extremes in Central Siberia. During positive IOT phases, two cross‐equatorial airflows are induced over tropical eastern and western Ocean. These strengthen ascending motion southern Asia (80°–125°E, 15°–25°N), increasing precipitation situ, as evidenced observations simulations by using Community Atmosphere Model. Serving a heat source, upper‐level Asian continent meridional teleconnection (ACMT) pattern transports signals from into Positive geopotential height anomalies Siberia ACMT favor more solar radiation to reach surface raise local temperatures through modulating tropospheric air expansion/compression, further reducing extreme days. Consequently, latent fluxes associated with acts an atmospheric bridge that links extremes.

studying the influence of indian ocean dipole phenomenon on seasonal rainfall variability over the southern provinces of iran
continuous and lengthy droughts in previous years not only in the southern provinces of iran but also in the whole country necessitate optimized water management. indian ocean and adjacent seas in south of iran are suppliers of part of the humidity in the region and the variation on indian ocean sea surface temperature has an important role in evaporation from oceans and input humidity into atm...
متن کاملTropical Indian Ocean Influence on Northwest Pacific Tropical Cyclones in Summer following Strong
In the summer following a strong El Niño, tropical cyclone (TC) number decreases over the Northwest (NW) Pacific despite little change in local sea surface temperature. The authors’ analysis suggests El Niño– induced tropical Indian Ocean (TIO) warming as the cause. The TIO warming forces a warm tropospheric Kelvin wave that propagates into the western Pacific. Inducing surface divergence off t...
