چکیده
Background: Drains are hypothesized to cause surgical site infections (SSIs). However, research is scarce on how reduce SSIs after drain placement. We analyzed the association between specific characteristics and occurrence of SSI. also evaluated effects other known risk factors in patients undergoing plastic surgery SSIs.Methods: retrospectively reviewed medical charts 531 who underwent with placement January 2017 2022. Data were using chi-square test or Fisher exact for categorical variables Mann-Whitney U t-test numerical variables. Results: SSI incidence was higher closed drains (15.4%) than open (8.0%). occurred more often delayed removal. For drains, early removal did not decrease incidence. markedly high when removed 6 days. Furthermore, bacterial culture results tended differ before frequently group. Among SSIs, smoking, albumin concentration, wound status confirmed as significant. Conclusion: Drain time a significant factor SSIs. With it important assess whether occurs at beginning A probability retrograde infection drains. Closed should be within days considered
