Influence of direct electric field on PMCG-alginate-based microcapsule

Abstract In this study, the influence of direct electric current on a microcapsule was investigated. The consisted core from calcium ion and sodium alginate (SA) complex membrane formed by polyionic complexation poly(methylene-co-guanidine) (PMCG) cellulose sulfate (CS). Microcapsules showed swelling decreasing mechanical properties under applied current, anisotropic electrode side. effect is attributed to an electrokinetic phenomenon, predominant formation hydroxyl ions, diffusion hydrated ions. degree at different pH alkali acidic conditions influenced dissociation membrane, which observed after applying field, caused neutralization polycation (under conditions) or polyanionic segment during formation.
