Influence of Boda Boda Riders’ Behaviour on Road Safety and Socio-economic Well-being of Lodwar Town Residents in Turkana County, Kenya

Commercial Motorcycle Taxi business, also known as 'Boda boda', is a dominant alternative mode of transport and means quick mobility in Kenya. The Boda bodas are associated with significant accident risks have led to public health epidemic. Risky riders' traffic behaviour, coupled the tendency riders operate like organized urban militia, often been disruption socio-economic activities, road accidents, injuries, deaths. This study sought explore influence boda Riders' Behaviour on Road Safety well-being Lodwar town residents. A cross-sectional was conducted targeting 17,210 households Turkana County. employed descriptive research design that involved collection both quantitative qualitative data from residents, motorcycle riders, police officers, care workers town. were analyzed by use frequency counts percentages cross-tabulations. showed influenced risky behaviours.
