Influence of Asymmetric Gain Suppression on Relative Intensity Noise Properties of Multimode Semiconductor Lasers

We introduce modeling and simulation of the noise properties associated with types modal oscillations induced by scaling asymmetric gain suppression (AGS) in multimode semiconductor lasers. The study is based on numerical integration a system rate equations 21-oscillating modes taking account self- cross-modal mechanisms. AGS varied terms pre-defined parameter, which controlled linewidth enhancement factor differential gain. Basing intensive mode dynamics, we present mapping (AGS versus current) diagram possible oscillations. When laser oscillation hopping (HMMO), spectra relative intensity (RIN) total output are characterized sharp peak around relaxation (RO) frequency broad frequency. levels RIN regimes single-mode (SMO) much lower than those under HMMO, mode-partition two order magnitudes lower.
