Inferring phylogenetic relationships in the common vole (Microtus arvalis) based on mitochondrial and nuclear sequence diversities

چکیده

The common vole Microtus arvalis (Pallas, 1778) is the most widespread species. It has two forms - European form (2n: 46, NF: 84) and Asian obscurus 72). present study aimed to clarify taxonomic status of M. populations distributed in Eastern Turkey, Europe Asia by analysing mitochondrial (CYTB COX1) one nuclear (IRBP) markers. Phylogenetic dendrograms (median-joining networks Bayesian trees) constructed using markers clearly separated Anatolian population from populations. Contrarily, any explicit differentiation was not shown IRBP analyses. Mean net genetic distance values (d) were found be notably low for three Species delimitation test (Automatic Barcode Gap Discovery Method) supported these results. Our results indicate that are sufficiently differentiated considered different species, while only recently split population. Together, findings demonstrate speciation process ongoing.

Circadian rhythms of C-FOS expression in the suprachiasmatic nuclei of the common vole (Microtus arvalis).

The suprachiasmatic nuclei of the hypothalamus (SCN) are the master circadian clock in mammals. Transcriptional activity in this master clock has a marker in the immediate-early gene c-Fos. Within the SCN, distinct differences in c-Fos in the ventrolateral and the dorsomedial SCN have been reported for rodent species such as rats, mice, and hamsters. We studied C-FOS expression in the common vo...

Sexual maturation in common vole (Microtus arvalis) males raised under laboratory conditions.

The common vole is one ofthe most numerous rodents in Europe and Asia but its reproductive biology is not fully described. It is thought that females reach reproductive abilities at a very young age, however, there is no data concerning male sexual maturation. The aim of the present study was to determine the rate of sexual maturation of males of the common vole. Research was carried out on 4, ...

Brucella microti sp. nov., isolated from the common vole Microtus arvalis.

Two Gram-negative, non-motile, non-spore-forming, coccoid bacteria (strains CCM 4915(T) and CCM 4916), isolated from clinical specimens of the common vole Microtus arvalis during an epizootic in the Czech Republic in 2001, were subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic study. On the basis of 16S rRNA (rrs) and recA gene sequence similarities, both isolates were allocated to the genus Brucella. Affili...

Impact of behavior on central and peripheral circadian clocks in the common vole Microtus arvalis, a mammal with ultradian rhythms.

In most mammals, daily rhythms in physiology are driven by a circadian timing system composed of a master pacemaker in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) and peripheral oscillators in most body cells. The SCN clock, which is phase-entrained by light-dark cycles, is thought to synchronize subsidiary oscillators in peripheral tissues, mainly by driving cyclic feeding behavior. Here, we examined th...
