Indoor Air Quality and Overheating in UK Classrooms – an Archetype Stock Modelling Approach

چکیده

Abstract Children spend a large part of their waking lives in school buildings. There is substantial evidence that poor indoor air quality (IAQ) and thermal discomfort can have detrimental impacts on the performance, wellbeing health schoolchildren staff. Maintaining good IAQ while avoiding overheating classrooms challenging due to unique occupancy patterns heat properties schools. Building stock modelling has been extensively used recent years quantify evaluate performance numbers buildings at various scales. This paper builds an archetype approach which represents diversity England through analysis The Property Data Survey Programme (PDSP) Display Energy Certificates (DEC) databases. model was for simulating Indoor-to-Outdoor pollution ratios estimate levels (NO2, PM2.5 CO 2 ) comfort (overheating) two climate areas England: London West Pennines. highlighted variations classrooms’ different seasons explored risk relation classroom’s orientation.

Indoor Air Quality in Naturally Ventilated Italian Classrooms

Characterization of indoor air quality in school classrooms is crucial to children’s health and performance. The present study was undertaken to characterize the indoor air quality in six naturally ventilated classrooms of three schools in Cassino (Italy). Indoor particle number, mass, black carbon, CO2 and radon concentrations, as well as outdoor particle number were measured within school hou...

modelling of indoor air quality for tehran museums by impact

in many peoples’ minds, air pollution is associated with the contamination of urban air from automobile exhausts and industrial emissions. growing number of scientific evidence has indicated that in industrialized societies, air within buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air. in the last couple of decades, with the widespread availability of personal computers, mathematica...

An engineering approach to controlling indoor air quality.

Evidence is accumulating that indicates air quality problems in residential and commercial buildings are nearly always associated with inadequacies in building design and methods of operation. Thus, the very systems depended on to control the indoor environment can become indirect sources of contamination if diligence is not exercised at each stage of a building's life: a) planning and design, ...

Indoor Air Quality in U.k. School Classrooms Ventilated by Natural Ventilation Windcatchers

The provision of good IAQ in schools is important both for the health of students and in maximising educational achievement. It is, however, common for school classrooms to be significantly under-ventilated and this can lead to high levels of CO 2 and other pollutants. Natural ventilation offers the potential to improve IAQ within schools whilst at the same time reducing running and maintenance...

A Recursive Modelling Approach to Predicting Uk Stock Returns

This paper applies an extended and generalised version of the recursive modelling strategy developed in Pesaran and Timmermann (1995) to the UK stock market. The focus of the analysis is to simulate investors' search in `real time' for a model that can forecast stock returns. We ®nd evidence of predictability in UK stock returns which could have been exploited by investors to improve on the ris...
