Individual Rights vs. Common Good?

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we have been facing one most severe challenges our modern era. As world experiences ever-greater globalization, a process assimilation has accelerated in numerous spheres such as cultural, educational, economic, etc., but it is notable that measures taken by countries to combat impact COVID-19 vary significantly. A considerable number implemented lockdown strategies backed new laws, whereas some others relying on virtues good citizenship order not depend their legal systems. Within Asia there are also contrasting approaches; for instance, China and Korea responded with quick effective tracking method, while Japan depended self-restraint strategy. The Japanese Swedish approaches unique ambiguous, because they based voluntary self-restraint. There no or political mechanism control people’s behaviours. Still, rough terms these methods seem working, at least until now. In understand puzzling practice self-restraint, this research explores origin cultural background descriptively evaluates its positive negative consequences. Rather than utilizing philosophy communitarianism theoretical base, examines deep relationship between surrounding environment, use various events, including those related COVID-19. Moreover, study adds debate seeking right balance communitarian common especially emphasized East, an individual’s rights freedom highlighted West.
