Mice heterozygous for germ-line mutations in methylthioadenosine phosphorylase (MTAP) die prematurely of T-cell lymphoma.
Large homozygous deletions of 9p21 that inactivate CDKN2A, ARF, and MTAP are common in a wide variety of human cancers. The role for CDKN2A and ARF in tumorigenesis is well established, but whether MTAP loss directly affects tumorigenesis is unclear. MTAP encodes the enzyme methylthioadenosine phosphorylase, a key enzyme in the methionine salvage pathway. To determine if loss of MTAP plays a fu...
متن کاملPrimary cutaneous CD30+T cell lymphoma: A case report
Primary cutaneous CD30+ T cell lymphoma is rare lymphoma originally in and confined to the skin. These lymphomas usually present as a large solitary and often ulcerated nodule. Its prognosis is a good and has a good response to radiotherapy. We report a 34- year- old man who had primary cutaneous CD30+T cell lymphoma on his face, which presented as an ulcerated nodule.

Methylthioadenosine phosphorylase (MTAP) is important for the salvage of adenine and methionine. Recently, we found frequent deletion of MTAP in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) patients both at diagnosis and at relapse (A. Batova et al., Blood, 88: 3083-3090, 1996). In addition, MTAP deficiency has been reported in other cancers. Thus, MTAP deficiency in cancer may offer opportuniti...
متن کاملMethylthioadenosine phosphorylase expression in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
The methylthioadenosine phosphorylase (MTAP) gene is a tumour suppressor gene, located on chromosome 9p21, 100 kb telomeric of the p15 and p16 genes, which are often deleted in tumor cells. The role of MTAP protein expression in the genesis of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is currently not known. In a previous study we have shown the frequent occurrence of allelic imbalance/loss of he...
متن کاملSpecific cutaneous manifestations in adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma
Background and aim: Adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) is an aggresive malignancy which may occur in human T lymphotropic virus1(HTLV1) infected persons. HTLV1 is endemic in Khorasan with prevalence of 2.3% in general population. Since specific cutaneous manifestations of lymphoma may occur in a significant number of patients, we studied ATLL patients in Mashhad.Mate...
