چکیده
Remotely sensed images have become an important source of information for actors involved in disaster management and satellite-based emergency mapping (SEM) is increasingly used to support the response phase first hours days after a occurs. The delivery timeliness crisis key success SEM. In Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS), procedure was tested during past 5 years which links European Flood Awareness System (EFAS) with on-demand Rapid Mapping module order anticipate satellite tasking view upcoming activation service riverine floods. This study aims at assessing if has helped improve flood impact information. For assessment, we performance statistics recorded from June 2016 December 2020. Standard activations floods were compared those preceded by EFAS based pre-tasking request. focus on essential time stamps such as start, provision imagery availability derived products. pre-tasking-related activations, further predictions user request actual observations. Our results show that improves product due fact could be acquired earlier without pre-tasking.

P1.47 Internet Technologies for Enabling Flood Emergency Early Warning Systems: the Arno River Basin Case
Flash flood early warning is a very complex activity, involving a decision-making process based on meteorological and hydrological situation description and forecasts. Anyway, the reliability of information resources is not sufficient to make a good early warning system since communication language and semantics problems arise. Indeed, the decision-makers are often not technical persons, althou...

Increasing the effectiveness of Early Warning
The effective implementation of early warning is one of the best investments for disaster prevention and mitigation. In the last decade, we have witnessed strong efforts and progress towards better risk detection, monitoring and prediction. However, the best warnings are ineffective if they cannot be distributed in a timely way and targeted to people at risk. With the evolvement of new Informat...
متن کاملVirtual Dike and Flood Simulator: Parallel distributed computing for flood early warning systems
The paper presents two simulation modules –Virtual Dike and Flood Simulator– developed for flood Early Warning Systems (EWS). The UrbanFlood EWS is a distributed system that (1) analyzes sensor data received in real-time from flood defenses (dikes, dams, etc.) and (2) simulates dike stability, breaching and flood propagation. Computational modules are invoked by workflow-based expert scenarios ...
متن کاملA Neural Network Approach to Flood Mapping Using Satellite Imagery
This paper presents a new approach to flood mapping using satellite synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) images that is based on intelligent techniques. In particular, we apply artificial neural networks, self-organizing Kohonen’s maps (SOMs), for SAR image segmentation and classification. Our approach was used to process data from different satellite SAR instruments (ERS-2/SAR, ENVISAT/ASAR, RADARSA...
