Increasing frequency of multiple herbicide-resistant kochia (<i>Bassia scoparia</i>) in Alberta

چکیده
Multiple herbicide-resistant kochia [ Bassia scoparia (L.) A.J. Scott] is a growing weed management concern for farmers in the Canadian prairies. A randomized–stratified survey of 319 sites Alberta was conducted 2021 to determine frequency and incidence glyphosate, fluroxypyr, dicamba resistance samples four nine years after previous rounds surveys. Kochia exhibiting were found at 78%, 44%, 28% sites, respectively. Triple samples, resistant acetolactate synthase inhibitors, least one synthetic auxin, 45% sites.

Control of Herbicide-resistant Volunteer Corn in Herbicide-resistant Soybean
Glyphosate-resistant corn and soybean are grown in rotations in the Midwest, including Nebraska. Volunteer corn is a problematic weed in soybean fields because it causes harvest problems, reduces yield and seed quality, and potentially harbors insects, pests, and diseases. Several pre-packaged herbicides have been registered in soybean in recent years, but response of volunteer corn to these he...
متن کاملMechanism of Sulfonylurea Herbicide Resistance in the Broadleaf Weed, Kochia scoparia.
Selection of kochia (Kochia scoparia) biotypes resistant to the sulfonylurea herbicide chlorsulfuron has occurred through the continued use of this herbicide in monoculture cereal-growing areas in the United States. The apparent sulfonylurea resistance observed in kochia was confirmed in greenhouse tests. Fresh and dry weight accumulation in the resistant kochia was 2- to >350-fold higher in th...
متن کاملIs the frequency of multiple sclerosis increasing in Mexico?
Multiple sclerosis has steadily increased in Mexican mestizos from an apparently rare disorder in the 1970s to the second most frequent cause of admission to a neurology ward in the 1990s. Most patients belonged to high socioeconomic and educational groups. Familial incidence was low. Age at onset was younger than in other series and long term disability was milder than in patients from countri...
متن کاملDo Environmental Effects of Herbicide-Resistant GM Plants Differ from Effects of Other Herbicide Resistant Plants?
Genetic modification of crop plants has promoted concerns about potential environmental effects of this new technology. In this essay, I will discuss the environmental effects of genetic modification of crop plants using herbicide resistance as an example. Considering herbicide resistance as an old agricultural trait, it is difficult to find any reason to assess the environmental risks of genet...
