Inclusive Design of Workspaces: Mixed Methods Approach to Understanding Users

چکیده
Accessible design within the built environment has often focused on mobility conditions and recently widened to include mental health. Additionally, as one in seven are neurodivergent (including such ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia), this highlights a growing need for designing ‘non-visible’ addition mobility. Emphasised by disability pay gap perception gap, people with disabilities still facing discrimination physical barriers workplace. This research aimed identify key ways of reducing faced thus encourage more comfortable productive use workspaces all. Once spectrum users inclusive workspace was understood, survey then circulated students staff at large university UK (working remotely from home), aim understanding how have adapted their home spaces what they continue face. Quantitative qualitative results were compared literature read issues emerging, separating work rest bedrooms. The findings evaluated, extracting performance-based goals (e.g., productivity focus study space) prescriptive features lighting, furniture, thermal comfort), whilst also considering inclusivity these features. conclusion establishes that, achieve maximum benefit, it is important understand specific needs creative solutions.

This paper examines the use of mixed methods for analyzing users’ avatarrelated activities in a virtual world. Server logs recorded keystroke-level activity for 595 participants over a six-month period in Whyville.net, an informal science website. Participants also completed surveys and participated in interviews regarding their experiences. Additionally, the study included online ethnographic ...

Soon every desk will have a computer on it. Software to do mundane things such as payroll, mail, and text processing exists and as a by-product produces vast quantities of on-line in formation. Many users want to manipulate this data, often in unanticipated ways. These unexpected uses cannot justify substantial programming costs. This paper argues that the relational data model and operators co...
متن کاملA Mixed Methods Approach To Combining Behavioral And Design Research Methods In Information Systems Research
The design research method has recently been introduced in information systems research as an alternative to behavioral (i.e., qualitative and quantitative) research methods. It is, however, recognized in literature that behavioral research methods can be used as part of a design research project. Unfortunately, there are currently no clear guidelines on how both research methods can and should...
