Inclusive cognitive hierarchy

چکیده

Cognitive hierarchy theory, a collection of structural models non-equilibrium thinking, in which players’ best responses rely on heterogeneous beliefs others’ strategies including naïve behavior, proved powerful explaining observations from wide range games. We propose an inclusive cognitive model, players do not rule out the possibility facing opponents at their own thinking level. Our theoretical results show that inclusiveness is crucial for asymptotic properties deviations equilibrium behavior expansive limiting behaviors are categorized three distinct types: naïve, Savage rational with inconsistent beliefs, and sophisticated. test model laboratory experiment collective decision-making. The data suggests indispensable regard to explanatory power hierarchical thinking.

Cognitive Hierarchy and Voting Manipulation

By the Gibbard–Satterthwaite theorem, every reasonable voting rule for three or more alternatives is susceptible to manipulation: there exist elections where one or more voters can change the election outcome in their favour by unilaterally modifying their vote. When a given election admits several such voters, strategic voting becomes a game among potential manipulators: a manipulative vote th...

A Cognitive Hierarchy Model of Games

Players in a game are “in equilibrium” if they are rational, and accurately predict other players’ strategies. In many experiments, however, players are not in equilibrium. An alternative is “cognitive hierarchy” (CH) theory, where each player assumes his strategy is the most sophisticated. The CH model has inductively-defined strategic categories: Step 0 players randomize; and step k thinkers ...

Cognitive hierarchy and multi-stage I.O. games

The concept of cognitive hierarchy (Camerer et.al (2004)) is extended to multistage games. In a multi-stage game we will assume that the rationality level of a player indicates the number of stages of the game where he puts cognitive effort to calculate optimal actions. A player of rationality level k plays optimaly in the last k stages of the game and randomizes uniformly in the first m − k, w...

A generalized cognitive hierarchy model of games

Subjects in simple games often exhibit nonequilibrium behaviors. Cognitive Hierarchy (CH) and Level k (LK) are two prevailing structural models that can predict these behaviors well but they make quite different assumptions on players’ beliefs of their opponents’ actions. This paper develops a generalization of CH and shows that CH and a variant of LK belong to the same family. Under generalize...
