Inbreeding depression and genetic variability of populations for green maize production

چکیده
The production of green maize is considerable important for various regions Brazil. It vital that breeding programs public institutions seek to meet the needs this market sector, which has a relevant social role, mainly on small properties. aim study was estimate inbreeding depression and genetic components (m + d) characters associated with quality in three populations different basis: variety UFG-Samambaia (P1), two formed by crossing commercial hybrids (P2 e P3). S1 progenies each population, S0 populations, checks were evaluated 14 × triple lattice design. Agronomic ear traits evaluated. Genetic variability greater observed most among P1 progenies. In P2 P3, male flowering, weight without straw, diameter, weight, female breakage lodging, grain color. quality, production, had than agronomic traits, indicating exploitation heterosis should be considered selection process these traits.

Variability and inbreeding in semiexotic maize populations.
Three semiexotic populations (CRE-01, CRE-02, CRE-03) obtained by incorporation of exotic germplasm (lines from CIMMYT, Colombia; selected for resistance to corn stunt complex) were evaluated in two cycles of recurrent selection with half-sib families. In cycle-I, samples comprising 50, 70, and 50 half-sib families were evaluated at Jataí (GO) and traits analyzed were ear yield, plant height, a...
متن کاملAncestral inbreeding only minimally affects inbreeding depression in mammalian populations.
Inbreeding depression can be reduced, or purged, by selection against deleterious alleles. This prediction is the basis of the recommendation that captive wildlife populations suffering from inbreeding depression be intentionally bred from healthy inbred animals. Yet data on the effectiveness of purging inbreeding depression are few. In this study I present and use two different regression mode...
متن کاملNitrogen management strategies for smallholder maize production systems: Yield and profitability variability
Maize (Zea mays L.) production requires large amounts of nitrogen (N) thatdirectly affect production cost. Poultry litter can be used as an alternative source ofN. To optimize its use, poultry litter requires technical and economic feasibilityanalyses. Crop simulation models have proven to be efficient tools to support thistype of research. The objectives of this study were to determine yield a...
متن کاملThe Genetic Interpretation of Inbreeding Depression and Outbreeding Depression.
Inbreeding with close relatives and outbreeding with members of distant populations can both result in deleterious shifts in the means of fitness-related characters, most likely for very different reasons. Such processes often occur simultaneously and have important implications for the evolution of mating systems, dispersal strategies, and speciation. They are also relevant to the design of br...
