In-Stent Restenosis after Carotid Stenting

چکیده

Carotid artery stenosis is a major risk factor for ischemic stroke. Currently, carotid endarterectomy (CEA) the surgical treatment of choice stenosis. stenting (CAS) increases CAS one options available, particularly high-risk CEA patients. Although has advantages being less invasive, causing patient discomfort, and requiring shorter hospital stay, some patients may develop in-stent restenosis (ISR). ISR closely related to clinical events such as transient attacks stroke recurrence. The author examines mechanism, influencing factors, research progress following CAS, well its prevention treatment, in order provide insights clinicians.

Overlap stenting for in-stent restenosis after carotid artery stenting

Our aim was to assess the clinical safety and efficacy of overlap stenting for in-stent restenosis after carotid artery stenting. The study was conducted between July 2008 and February 2015. A database of consecutive carotid artery stenting procedures was retrospectively assessed to identify the cases of in-stent restenosis that were treated with overlap stenting under proximal or distal protec...

In Stent Restenosis Predictors after Carotid Artery Stenting

Purpose. The long-term efficacy of carotid artery stenting is debated. Predictors of stent restenosis are not fully investigated. Our aim was to assess the incidence of long term restenosis after CAS and to identify some predictors of restenosis. Methods. We retrospectively selected 189 treated patients and we obtained the survival Kaplan-Meier curves for overall survival, for freedom from stro...

Cilostazol reduces restenosis after carotid artery stenting.

BACKGROUND Although carotid artery stenting (CAS) has been proposed as an alternative to carotid endarterectomy in cerebral revascularization, restenosis remains an unsolved issue. Cilostazol is a unique antiplatelet drug that has vasodilatory effects and inhibits smooth muscle cell proliferation. We investigated whether cilostazol reduces restenosis after CAS. METHODS A database of 113 conse...

Instent restenosis after carotid stenting necessitating open carotid surgical repair.

A 64-year-old male presented with amaurosis fugax and presyncope as symptomatic 80%-in-stent restenosis (60 mm stent) 17 months after right internal carotid artery intervention (Fig. 1). Intraoperatively the carotid-stent was completely explanted (Fig. 2). Venous patch plasty was performed. He recovered early without any ischemic event. At follow-up 6 months later the patient remained completel...

In-stent restenosis after carotid angioplasty and stenting: a challenge for the vascular surgeon.

PURPOSE This study aims to review the incidence of in-stent restenosis (ISR), the factors which determine restenosis, and to evaluate the use of various endovascular techniques for the management of ISR following carotid artery stenting (CAS). METHODS Four hundred and seven patients (334 men, mean age 63 years, range 46-86, median 65 years) were treated with CAS between December 2000 and Marc...
