In-silico Analysis of Device-Related Thrombosis for Different Left Atrial Appendage Occluder Settings

چکیده

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common cardiac arrhythmias and associated to an increasing risk stroke. Most AF-related strokes are formed in left atrial appendage (LAA). To prevent thrombus formation, LAA occlusion (LAAO) considered a suitable alternative for AF patients with contraindications anti-coagulation treatment. Nevertheless, LAAO linked non-negligible generating at surface near device (i.e., device-related thrombus, DRT), depending on implantation settings. For instance, it has been shown that not covering pulmonary ridge (PR) increases DRT. In-silico analysis useful tool better understand blood flow patterns after predict DRT given patient configuration. In present work we designed modelling pipeline based fluid simulations, including model using discrete phase modelling, analyse six patient-specific geometries different particular, studied possible incidence positioning (covering/uncovering PR) type (Amplatzer Amulet Watchman FLX). The resulting in-silico indices demonstrated PR entails less thrombogenic than uncovering it. our study, disk-based devices had adaptability complex morphologies slightly minor non-disk devices.

Transesophageal echocardiographic diagnosis of left atrial appendage occluder device infection.

The safety and efficacy of a left atrial appendage closure device is currently under evaluation in a large-scale multi-center clinical trial. We report an initial case of left atrial appendage occluder device infection with Staphylococcus aureus; transesophageal echocardiography played a pivotal role in diagnosis and treatment.

Left atrial appendage occluder thrombosis after successful implantation.

We report the case of a 69-year-old woman admitted for recurrent left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombosis occurring 8 months after implantation of an Amplatzer Cardiac Plug device. The indication for LAA closure was paroxysmal atrial fibrillation with high thromboembolic risk (CHA 2 DS 2 -Vasc score, 4) and a history of intracranial bleeding 6 months previously under vitamin K antagonist with an ...

A Semi-Automated Algorithm for Segmentation of the Left Atrial Appendage Landing Zone: Application in Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Procedures

Background: Mechanical occlusion of the Left atrial appendage (LAA) using a purpose-built device has emerged as an effective prophylactic treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation at risk of stroke and a contraindication for anticoagulation. A crucial step in procedural planning is the choice of the device size. This is currently based on the manual analysis of the “Device Landing Zone” fr...

Preclinical evaluation of a new left atrial appendage occluder (Lifetech LAmbre™ device) in a canine model.

OBJECTIVES The study evaluated the feasibility and safety of a novel left atrial appendage (LAA) occluder (LAmbre™, Lifetech Scientific Corp., China) in canines. BACKGROUND Transcatheter LAA occlusion is comparable to warfarin in preventing atrial fibrillation-related strokes. METHODS Twenty-two healthy dogs (28 ± 3 kg) received LAmbre implants. The device is delivered by an 8-10 French she...
