Improving SNR and Sensitivity for Low-Coupling EMT Sensors

Electromagnetic tomography (EMT), also known as magnetic inductance (MIT) is a tomographic modality widely employed in process industry and bio-medical applications. In particular, this technique plays an important role imaging metallic objects since it can produce conductivity permeability distributions the region of interest. An EMT system consists coil array, data acquisition reconstruction computer. Coils are used to generate electromagnetic field which interacts with under investigation measure induced voltages. Conventionally, coils sufficient coupling (considerable number turns or dimensions) achieve high sensitivity good SNR performance. However, poses limitations for some applications, such temperature applications small-scale facilities. steel copper production processes, large more likely be damaged due breakdown insulating materials between turns, resulting measuring errors. Besides, applied facility requires sensors reduced dimensions, results weak lower SNR. order address these issues, paper proposes method transform impedance hence increase sensor signal level through designing boosting transformers. Simulation experimental suggest that increases image stability.
