چکیده
Abstract We examined the impact of adding seaweed Cystoseira baccata (Ochrophyta, Sargassaceae) in various forms to two different growing substrates: pine bark and gorse compost. Specifically, we influence on physical chemical properties substrates, their agronomic performance a lettuce crop. The was used 20% (v/v) proportion three forms, namely: fresh (FS), washed (WFS), dried (WDS). mixed substrates exhibited no signs instability. FS DWS increased total water retention capacity by 27%, respectively. Adding any its this type substrate, which is poor nutrients has low electrical conductivity (EC), significantly P, K, Mg Na contents, as well EC (from 0.08 dS m –1 control substrate 0.69, 0.12 0.27 those containing FS, WFS WDS, respectively). On other hand, only form (FS) altered salinity K content rich salts such compost 0.89 1.42 −1 terms 0.59% 0.98% K). All mixtures performed for Those aerial mass compost, while tested formats bark.

Removal of inorganic mercury from aqueous solutions by biomass of the marine macroalga Cystoseira baccata.
The ability of Cystoseira baccata algal biomass to remove Hg(II) from aqueous solutions is investigated. The mercury biosorption process is studied through batch experiments at 25 degrees C with regard to the influence of contact time, initial mercury concentration, solution pH, salinity and presence of several divalent cations. The acid-base properties of the alga are also studied, since they ...
متن کاملToxic And Anti-Cancerogenic Effect Of Brown Seaweed Cystoseira Tamariscifolia
Cystoseira tamariscifolia is a brown alga which represents an important natural biomass on the Moroccan Atlantic coast. Study of the acute toxicity of this species was carried out on Swiss albinos mice. The LD50 was determined through the Spearman-Karber method by injecting the aqueous algal extract to 36 mice organized in lots of 6 animals each for 6 concentrations and the experiments were con...
متن کاملStructural features and antiviral activity of sulphated fucans from the brown seaweed Cystoseira indica.
Natural compounds offer interesting pharmacological perspectives for antiviral drug development. In this study, we have analysed sulphated-fucan-containing fractions isolated from the brown seaweed Cystoseira indica. The crude water extract (CiWE) and the main fraction (CiF3) obtained by anion exchange chromatography had potent antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus types 1 (HSV-1) and...
متن کاملSulfated polysaccharides of brown seaweed Cystoseira canariensis bind to serum myostatin protein.
Natural sulfated polysaccharides (SPs) derived from brown seaweed comprise a complex group of macromolecules with a wide range of important physiological properties. SPs have been shown to bind and directly regulate the bioactivity of growth factors and cytokines such as basic fibroblast growth factor, interferon, various enzymes and transforming growth factor. Myostatin is a member of the tran...
متن کاملImproving re-sampling detection by adding noise
Current image re-sampling detectors can reliably detect re-sampling in JPEG images only up to a Quality Factor (QF) of 95 or higher. At lower QFs, periodic JPEG blocking artifacts interfere with periodic patterns of re-sampling. We add a controlled amount of noise to the image before the re-sampling detection step. Adding noise suppresses the JPEG artifacts while the periodic patterns due to re...
