Improvement of Extractive Alkylation Gas Chromatography of Short-chain Carboxylic Acids in Aqueous Solution

چکیده
In the analysis of short-chain carboxylic acids such as formic acid and acetic in aqueous solution using extractive alkylation gas chromatography, tetrahexylammonium bromide (THAB) a phase-transfer catalyst (PTC) causes high intensity broad peaks chromatogram, interfere with detection derivatives. By an easy treatment perchloric n-hexane, it is possible to remove more than 95% THAB, provide good chromatogram little admixture The desensitization was 16% at maximum, contamination glass insert chromatograph liquid phase column by THAB minimized, trouble continuous measurement could be avoided.

Quantum mechanics investigation of acid dissociation constant of carboxylic acids in aqueous solution
According to the Bronsted definition, any compound which has a hydrogen atom is an acid, since itmay be lost as a proton. A thermodynamical cycle is proposed to calculate absolute pKa values forBronsted acids in aqueous solution. The equilibrium of dissociation of a Bronsted acid depends onthe interaction of the acid and its conjugate base with solvent molecules. There fore the pKa valuedepends...
متن کاملQuantitative gas-chromatographic determination of short-chain fatty acids in aqueous samples.
We report the use of SP-1200 (Supelco Inc.) for quantitative gas-chromatographic determination of shortchain fatty acids (C2-C5) in stool water. The ratio of peak areas for these acids to that for 2-methylvaleric acid (internal standard) is linear for each acid from 60 to 1800 mg/liter. Lactic acid, occasionally present in stool in abnormally high amounts, is not detectable as the free acid on ...

متن کاملGAS-PHASE ACIDITY OF SOME CARBOXYLIC ACIDS CALCULATED BY MNDO
Gas-phase acidities of 15 aliphatic carboxylic acids, X CH -,COOH, have been calculated using the MNDO method. Among the substituted groups exist the electron donor alkyl groups and electron acceptor halogens. The average error in acidity is within the experimental uncertainty of the data. Systematic errors have been found for the substituents which form internal hydrogen bondings. A reaso...
