Improved Evaluation Method of Coal Spontaneous Combustion/Oxidation Characteristics

Coal spontaneous combustion often occurs in storage processes, especially for low-rank coal with high volatile materials, which may lead yard caught fire and thermal energy losses. Therefore, it is important to accurately predict the tendency under status real time. In order determine ignition point, existing methods are all using pulverized samples, adding special oxidant artificially then heating accelerate oxidation process. The particle size test conditions of those were quite different from condition. This research developed a new method evaluate tendency. used granular similar its process, temperature increasing humidity, pressure air flow conditions. was judged by rise rate V70 sample at 69°C–71°C adiabatic 10 samples rank Chinese coals study. results show that lignite had largest low-temperature rate, anthracite has minimum. lower moisture, greater rate. When environment 70°C, increase increases firstly decreases. As temperatures rise, decrease three types maximum while minimal rising Six kinds selected verify precision. It found repeatability limit have linear correlation, basis judgment also provided. sensitivity resolution ranks. According research, could be divided into categories: strong tendency, medium weak according their V70. give great practical significant guidance scientific storage, blending, safety efficient utilization coal.
