Important meteorological predictors for long-range wildfires in China

چکیده

Wildfire predictions provide useful information for fire management planning and implementation. Temperature precipitation have been used as the primary meteorological predictors wildfires in China. This study is to improve prediction skills of long-range (monthly, seasonal, annual) China by identifying other important predictors. Provincial data during 1999–2020 were calculate correlations between properties (fire count burned area) variables maximum temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, wind speed, vapor pressure deficit (VPD) drought indices Keetch-Bryam Drought Index (KBDI), Palmer Severity (PDSI), Standardized Precipitation (SPI). The fitting rates linear regression models compared among these indices. results indicate that number provinces with significant / or high largest VPD monthly fires, KBDI seasonal KBDI, PDSI, SPI annual fires. larger Northeast, Central, South than regions. comparable spring seasons but often smaller variables. generally areas count. It concluded are expected be improved many using well some

Long-range transport of giant particles in Asian dust identified by physical, mineralogical, and meteorological analysis

Giant particles transported over long distances are generally of limited concern in atmospheric studies due to their low number concentrations in mineral dust and possible local origin. However, they can play an important role in regional circulation of earth materials due to their enormous volume concentration. Asian dust laden with giant particles was observed in Korea on 31 March 2012, after...

Assessment of carbonaceous aerosols in Shanghai, China: Long-term evolution, seasonal variations and meteorological effects

Carbonaceous aerosols are major chemical components of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) with major impacts on air quality, climate change, and human health. Gateway to fast-rising China and home of over twenty million people, Shanghai throbs as the nation's largest mega city and the biggest industrial hub. In a continuing effort to pursue economic growth, haze-plagued Shanghai also spearheaded C...

Long range studies of mental hospital patients, an important area for research in chronic disease.

The resource that I should like to discuss is the mental hospital. Since mental hospitals are not usually operated by the department of health and the admission and follow-up of discharged mental hospital patients are usually not functions of the health department, I will spend a few minutes describing the characteristics of the populations of these institutions. This discussion, I am sure, wil...

Long-term perspective on wildfires in the western USA.

Understanding the causes and consequences of wildfires in forests of the western United States requires integrated information about fire, climate changes, and human activity on multiple temporal scales. We use sedimentary charcoal accumulation rates to construct long-term variations in fire during the past 3,000 y in the American West and compare this record to independent fire-history data fr...
