Implications of post-kick jets in core-collapse supernovae

چکیده
ABSTRACT I examine the assumption that jets shape axisymmetrical morphological features of core-collapse supernova (CCSN) remnants are post-kick jets, i.e. neutron star (NS) launches these after explosion and it acquired its natal kick velocity. find this implies pre-collapse cores CCSN progenitors have sufficient angular momentum fluctuations to support jittering explode star. From finding shaping-jets neither tend be aligned with velocity nor perpendicular argue has following implications. (1) The NS accretes mass at a radius $r_{\rm acc} \approx 5000 {~\rm km}$ from centre $\approx 10 s}$ explosion. (2) required accreted gas explain medium values jets-kick angles also an intermittent pre-kick accretion disc, just before during Such disc is likely launch in frame mechanism. This suggests most last mechanism rather than jets. (3) expects black holes small velocities.

Relativistic jets in Core Collapse Supernovae
After several decades of extensive research the mechanism driving core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe) is still unclear. A common mechanism is a neutrino driven outflow, but others have been proposed. Among those, a long-standing idea is that jets play an important role in SN explosions. Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) that accompany rare and powerful CCSNe, sometimes called “hypernovae”, provide a clear e...
متن کاملUnderstanding Core-Collapse Supernovae
At the University of Arizona, we have a major effort to study core-collapse supernovae, neutrino opacities and transfer, multi-dimensional radiation hydrodynamics, pulsar kicks, and gravitational radiation from supernovae. We have developed a precision 1D (spherical) multigroup implicit Boltzmann solver, SESAME 1 [1, 2], using the Feautrier technique, with the tangent-ray method to achieve exce...
متن کاملNucleosynthesis in Core Collapse Supernovae
We present the basic properties of the yields of our latest set of presupernova evolution and explosive nucleosynthesis of massive stars in the range between 11 and 120 M having solar and zero metallicity.
متن کاملProgenitors of core-collapse supernovae
Knowledge of the progenitors of core-collapse supernovae is a fundamental component in understanding the explosions. The recent progress in finding such stars is reviewed. The minimum initial mass that can produce a supernova has converged to 8± 1M⊙, from direct detections of red supergiant progenitors of II-P SNe and the most massive white dwarf progenitors, although this value is model depend...
متن کاملSpectropolarimetry of Core-Collapse Supernovae
We briefly review the young field of spectropolarimetry of corecollapse supernovae (SNe). Spectropolarimetry provides the only direct known probe of early-time supernova (SN) geometry. The fundamental result is that asphericity is a ubiquitous feature of young core-collapse SNe. However, the nature and degree of the asphericity vary considerably. The best predictor of core-collapse SN polarizat...
