Implementing robust thermodynamic model for reliable bubble/dew problem solution in cryogenic distillation of air separation units

High accuracy in Equations of State (EoSs) is becoming a more and critical aspect for design operational purposes different areas chemical process engineering. It well-known that improper predictions mixture properties provide large deviations simulations, control actions, estimation operative conditions, assessment performance indexes optimal unit/process design. These are strongly emphasized when typical operating conditions appear rather severe. One the most challenging application sectors represented by cryogenic separations especially case their nominal approach point. Air Separation Units (ASUs) ideal field to demonstrate these criticisms. In addition, dedicated EoSs sometimes lacks implementation details thermodynamic parameters, making reliability target impossible be achieved. The present paper aimed at bridging current gaps Bender EoS reliable prediction air as well simulation ASU plants. requires description robust efficient algorithms. At last, quantitative comparison between proposed existing solutions provided.
