Implementation of the Disaster Risk Reduction Program in Japan as an Effort for Disaster Risk Reduction in Indonesia

The natural disasters that occurred in Japan have caused losses both financially and terms of casualties. Based on data from the Japanese government, total experienced by country 1980 to 2010 amounted US$ 208,230,800. Meanwhile, number recorded fatalities was 8,568 people, with an average 276 per year due Japan. This study aims focus development a disaster information system reduce risk which can also be implemented Indonesia. research method used this is qualitative approach. In approach, researchers use descriptive methods collect data. approach chosen because conducted during Overseas Work Lecture through Video Conference May 30, 2023. conclusions indicate government has changed its prioritized reduction (DRR) programs. They better regional planning, building earthquake-resistant buildings, raising community awareness. addition, management involves various ministries agencies working together implementing, supervising operations. strong commitment DRR program regards investment as important measure protect country's life economy. Through improving urban strict construction regulations, education, active participation, trying live side resilience against these threats.
