Implementation of a Surgery Congress for Medical Students to Learn Transversal Competences. A Case of Student-Led Teaching Activity

Background: A dynamic training approach close to clinical work and research is highly requested by health sciences students. The aim of this paper present the organizational model a student-promoted student-managed surgical congress that encourages acquisition transversal competencies among students in charge organization Congress. Methods: two-day for medical organized themselves was held. Each day comprised two separate sections corresponding different specialties; included three types activities: conferences, round tables with guest professors, practical workshops. Once Congress had finished, an online survey carried out evaluate 10 items scored from 1 4. To assess competences organizing congress, evaluations were professor involved congress. Results: great acceptance students, filling 150 available places attendance rate 100%. showed high assessment subjects (3.48/4), conferences (3.48/4) workshops (3.27/4). Evaluation significantly lower (2/4). total 99% considered have been useful its formation process 100% would recommend it. grade significant increase between first third evaluation, being 1.24 7.25 times higher. Conclusions: student-led student well-evaluated activity promotes, organizers, competences.
