We present the results of a mixed methods study focusing on implementation pilot elementary mathematics specialist (EMS) endorsement program implemented in partnership with several educational organizations to provide teachers high needs rural areas an opportunity earn EMS through coursework and instructional leadership experiences. The data presented draw from social cognitive theory andragogy describe experiences candidates throughout their recommendations for programmatic improvements. sought explore ways which candidates’ within school-based internship impacted levels self-efficacy perceived success program. also determine opportunities barriers that exist respective learning environments as they professional plans core set collaborated improve instruction. this indicate both worked increased content knowledge. improved regarding teaching skills. Furthermore, time spent focused ongoing activities. Recommendations include need support expand role into instruction well equip school leaders ensure can teacher growth.
