Impacts and adaptation extents of climate smart agricultural practices among smallholder farmers of Ethiopia: Implication to food and nutrition security

The integrated use of various levels climate change adaptation practices is a means increasing farm productivity to meet the food demand world’s growing population without harming environment. Both primary and secondary data were used. In 2020/21 production year, was collected from 461 sample households East Hararghe Zone, Oromia, Ethiopia, for study. For analysis, study employed descriptive statistics multinomial endogenous switching econometric model. Gender, education, extension, livestock holding, cooperatives, market information, soil fertility, land slopes, training on management, training, perception degradation, perception, weather road distance are estimated have significant influence probability adopting different smart practices. According impact evaluation results, low increases households’ nutrition security by 28% 4.3%, respectively. Adopting medium-level climate-smart boosts 43% 20%, high higher 56% 19%, respectively, over very adopter households. As result, policymakers should place premium agricultural in order improve rural livelihoods.
