Impacting surgical training: Role of surgical anatomy dissection courses

INTRODUCTION: Human anatomy is one of the fundamental pillars basic medical sciences, which forms cornerstone ever-evolving practice. It is, therefore, important to strengthen education at all stages training. Since 2020, Department Anatomy, in collaboration with Surgery, organized surgical dissection courses improve practice safety and competence. This educational study aimed share lessons learned from organizing measure impact on knowledge skills acquisition by trainees. METHODS: Courses were designed clear learning objectives programs. A pre-test was administered trainees before course, a post-test end course. Descriptive statistics used compare pre- scores. p-value less than 0.05 considered statistically significant. The Likert scale trainees’ satisfaction every course.RESULTS: From August 2020 December 2021, 11 cadaveric organized, 173 6 Surgical Residency programs: Plastic surgery, General Orthopedic Urology, Neurosurgery, ENT, Obstetrics Gynecology. Nineteen trainers Surgery Anatomy involved.There significant improvement marks test as compared score. average increase mark 26.4% 95% CI [23-0 – 29.7], < 0.001. There negative correlation (r=-0.8948, 0.001) between score, suggesting that lowest performers had biggest improvement. Trainees’ high level. 87.6% reported desire pursue training become educators future. CONCLUSION: positively impacted acquisition, integrating into Cadaver-based procedures simulation should be encouraged integrated curricula.
