چکیده

Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) is a non-native tree species that occupies remarkable area in the forests of western Poland. It mainly cultivated for bee-keeping purposes as well its high quality wood. We investigated impact age and diameter on selected structural, physical mechanical attributes wood black grows conditions mesic oligotrophic site. analysed 200 samples originating from 18 trees varied with (38, 60 71 years old) (thin, medium thick specimen according to Hartig’s method). Individual properties were determined along corresponding European or Polish standards. Structural moisture 12%. found significant tree-ring width, latewood proportion, density, oven-dry basic share woody substance, porosity, radial, tangential, longitudinal volumetric shrinkage, compression strength parallel grain, static bending, coefficient grain bending. The older trees, higher values individual observed. In turn, effect was less profound no feature anisotropy almost all shrinkage parameters. Thin exhibited lowest parameters, while ones—the highest. general, highest technical can be youngest whose characterises significantly exceeding native such oak beech.

Heat-induced Chemical and Color Changes of Extractive-free Black Locust (robinia Pseudoacacia) Wood

To investigate chemical and color changes of the polymeric constituents of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) wood during heat treatment, extractive-free wood flour was conditioned to 30% initial moisture content (MC) and heated for 24 h at 120 °C in either an oxygen or nitrogen atmosphere. The color change was measured using the CIELAB color system. Chemical changes of the wood components wer...

Diversification Factors of Cultivators/Investors of Robinia pseudoacacia (Black locust)

In an effort to minimize environmental degradation caused by the intensive use of agrochemicals, European Union adopted regulations relevant to afforestation and set aside of agricultural land. The multifunctional role of agriculture enhanced through these regulations and provided adequate motives for a change in the conventional land uses. Cultivators/investors that are interested in afforeste...

The Silviculture of Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) in Hungary: a Review

Black locust was introduced in Hungary between 1710 and 1720. The first large black locust forests were established at the beginning of the 18th century on the Great Hungarian Plain stabilizing the windblown sandy soil. In the country, black locust occupied 37.000 ha in 1885, 109.000 ha in 1911, 186.000 ha in 1938 and 415.000 ha in 2009. At present, it is the most widely planted species in Hung...

The Effect of Heat Treatment on the Chemical and Color Change of Black Locust (robinia Pseudoacacia) Wood Flour

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of oxygen and moisture content (MC) on the chemical and color changes of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) wood during heat treatment. The wood flour was conditioned to different initial MCs and heated for 24 h at a constant temperature of 120oC in either oxygen or nitrogen atmosphere. The pH values and chromaticity indexes were examined. D...

Short‐term effect of elevated CO 2 concentration (0.5%) on mitochondria in diploid and tetraploid black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.)

Recent increases in atmospheric CO 2 concentration have affected the growth and physiology of plants. In this study, plants were grown with 0.5% CO 2 for 0, 3, and 6 days. The anatomy, fluorescence intensity of H2O2, respiration rate, and antioxidant activities of the mitochondria were analyzed in diploid (2×) and tetraploid (4×) black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.). Exposure to 0.5% CO 2 res...
