IMPACT OF SELECTED ESSENTIAL OILS AGAINST SPODOPTERALITTORALIS (BOISD.)

چکیده
The aim of this study was to determine the potential essential oils (EOs) thyme (Thymusvulgaris Lamiaceae) and ginger (Zingiberofficinale Zingiberaceae) control cotton leaf worm (Spodopteralittoralis Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)under laboratory conditions. The nutritional indices EO-treated S. littoralis larvae were reduced compared with control. At highest tested conc. 90 % oils, CI values significantly being 1.87 2.02 vs 3.78 mg/day/mg, respectively. While GR at 0.09 0.15 0.29 control, Therefore, it concluded that oil more potent than thymeoil against larvae. Hence, these can be an alternative for management its related species.

متن کاملThe Antibacterial Activity of Selected Labiatae (Lamiaceae) Essential Oils against Brucella melitensis
Background: Brucellosis, a zoonosis caused by four species of brucella, has a high morbidity. The major cause of brucellosis worldwide is brucella melitensis. Medicinal plants are considered as new antibacterial sources that could replace conventional antibiotics in the treatment of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of some native plants, alone an...
متن کاملComparison of antimicrobial activities of natural essential oils and synthetic fragrances against selected environmental pathogens
Plant essential oils (EOs) are known to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. Whether these antimicrobial effects are comparable to synthetic household products is less clear. Furthermore, limited research is available on the potential additive effect of blending EOs. In this investigation, a new EO blend containing orange, patchouli, peppermint, and clary sage was compared to its individua...

متن کاملAnti-biofilm Activity of Selected Plant Essential Oils against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus
Antibiotic resistance is a crucial grievous menace to public health on a planetary scale as it plummet the effectiveness of treatment and increase morbidity and mortality (Cassandra et al., 2008). Highly resistant bacterial evolution resulted in the compromised use of new generation of antibiotics (Levy, 2002). Antibiotic resistance is due to an inherent ability of microorganism to form surface...
