Impact of Modifier Oxides on Mechanical and Radiation Shielding Properties of B2O3-SrO-TeO2-RO Glasses (Where RO = TiO2, ZnO, BaO, and PbO)

The influence of modifier oxides (TiO2, ZnO, BaO, and PbO) on the mechanical radiation shielding properties boro-tellurate glasses is investigated. Samples with a composition B2O3-SrO-TeO2-RO (RO represents oxides) were fabricated using melt quench method, their physical, mechanical, attenuation parameters reported. For this aim, Monte Carlo simulation was employed to predict parameters, while Makishima-Mackenzie model adopted determine properties. tightly packed structure better cross-linkage density possessed by Ti-containing glass (SBT-Ti) system among titled batch. higher Poisson micro-hardness values SBT-Ti indicate its structure’s reduced free volume compactness. PbO, linear mass coefficients are highly increased compared those doped TiO2, BaO. thinner half-value layer reported at 0.015 MeV, taking 0.006, 0.005, 0.004, 0.002 for samples respectively. SBT-Pb sample (with has HVL other samples. glasses’ thickness (Deq) equivalent 1 cm lead (Pb) results demonstrated that Deq high low energy equals 11.62, 8.81, 7.61, 4.56 SBT-Ti, SBT-Zn, SBT-Ba, samples, According results, have capacity between 30 43% pure Pb gamma-ray 1.5 MeV. At (8 MeV), transmission factor reach 88.68, 87.83, 85.95, 83.11% SBT-Pb,
