Impact of climate change on flood inundation in a tropical river basin in Indonesia

چکیده

Abstract Climate change will have a significant impact on the water cycle and lead to severe environmental problems disasters in humid tropical river basins. Examples include basins Sumatra Island, Indonesia, where coastal lowland areas are mostly composed of peatland that is wetland environment initially sustained by flooding from rivers. may alter frequency magnitude flood inundation these areas, disturbing its carbon dynamics damaging agricultural plantations. Consequently, projecting extent due future events considered important for basin management. Using dynamically downscaled climate data obtained Non-Hydrostatic Regional Model (NHRCM), Rainfall-Runoff-Inundation (RRI) model was applied Batanghari River Basin (42,960 km 2 ) project latter part twenty-first century. In order obtain reasonable estimates inundation, this study compared two bias correction methods: Quantile Mapping (QM) method combination QM Variance Scaling (VS) methods. The results showed improved simulated flow duration curve (FDC) RRI model, which facilitated comparison with FDC using reference rainfall data. However, high spatial variability observed daily 15-day remained as variation bias, could not be resolved simple alone. extreme variables, such annual maximum volume, were overestimated By introducing QM-VS correction, cumulative density functions discharge volumes improved. findings also increase region; example, volume corresponding 20-year return period 3.3 times. management measures, land use regulations plantations conservation, should therefore consider increases depth area, extents under scenario presented study.

Investigation of climate change impacts on streamflow regime of a river Arazkooseh River Basin

In this research, impacts of climate change on the streamflow hydrological status of the Arazkooseh River are discussed. After Calibration and validation of the LARS-WG, HadCM3 was downscaled under A2 Scenario in three climatology station. Beside, calibration and validation of the SWAT model were done by observed data relative to past period of times. Streamflow values are then predicted using ...

Future climate change impact on hydrological regime of river basin using SWAT model

Hydrological components in a river basin can get adversely affected by climate change in coming future. Manipur River basin lies in the extreme northeast region of India nestled in the lesser Himalayan ranges and it is under severe pressure from anthropogenic and natural factors. Basin is un-gauged as it lies in remote location and suffering from large data scarcity. This paper explores the imp...

The Impact of Climate Change on the Duration and Division of Flood Season in the Fenhe River Basin, China

This study analyzes the duration and division of the flood season in the Fenhe River Basin over the period of 1957–2014 based on daily precipitation data collected from 14 meteorological stations. The Mann–Kendall detection, the multiscale moving t-test, and the Fisher optimal partition methods are used to evaluate the impact of climate change on flood season duration and division. The results ...

Modeling Flood Inundation Induced by River Flow and Storm Surges over a River Basin

Low-lying coastal regions and their populations are at risk during storm surge events and high freshwater discharges from upriver. An integrated storm surge and flood inundation modeling system was used to simulate storm surge and inundation in the Tsengwen River basin and the adjacent coastal area in southern Taiwan. A three-dimensional hydrodynamic model with an unstructured grid was used, wh...
