Immunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma in liver transplant patients (Literature review)

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, accounting for more than 800,000 deaths annually. Surgical removal neoplasm remains most effective treatment option. Partial liver resection an adequate solution patients without cirrhosis or with well-compensated cirrhosis, orthotopic transplantation necessary in early stage HCC on background cirrhosis. Tumor recurrence a major limitation long-term survival after transplantation. Posttransplant immunosuppression reduces body's antitumor defense, which provided by natural immunity. This contributes to development and progression tumor process.
