Las plantas del género Baccharis son empleadas en la medicina popular de Sudamérica para el alivio y tratamiento diversas dolencias, entre ellas aquellas que cursan con procesos inflamatorios, por lo constituyen una fuente potencial compuestos actividad sobre sistema inmune. La creciente necesidad nuevos fármacos inmunomoduladora ha redirigido atención a las uso medicinal tradicional. Diversos estudios revelan especies forman parte este género, destacándose anti-inflamatoria. Entre más estudiadas se encuentran trimera B. dracunculifolia.
