Imagining a Safe Place: Emotion Regulation with Detachment Intervention

Although the induction of a safe place led to changes on physiological level with impact for emotional processing, effect emotion regulation is still unclear. This study examined effects self-distant reflecting strategy (safe induction) positive and negative affect compared self-immersed way (rumination task) autobiographic event. In student population, 54 healthy participants underwent recalled sad memory before they were randomly assigned 1:1 either or rumination task. We could demonstrate that after mood in condition showed significantly stronger improvement positive, but not contrast condition. Detachment training via serve as an when dealing memories.
