چکیده
Though widely used, body mass index (BMI) is a heterogeneously performing marker of diabetes risk. Waist circumference-based measures more accurately capture central adiposity and thus can improve the assessment risk beyond BMI, but there limited evidence to guide their use in tailored screening guidelines many low- middle-income countries (LMICs). In this study, we sought assess relationships between two adiposity, waist circumference (WC) relative fat (RFM), across 50 LMICs. We then compare diagnostic performance WC, RFM BMI for screening. performed pooled, cross-sectional analysis individual-level data from nationally representative, population-based surveys conducted 2010–2019. Our sample included non-pregnant participants ≥18 years old who have ≥18.5 kg/m2 <30 kg/m2. first used logistic regression evaluate relationship each these three status. receiving operating curve (ROC) measure, overall stratified by sex geographic region. compared area under ROC (AUC) RFM, using Somer’s D statistic. The final pooled 133,644 adults among whom 10(%) had diabetes. mean age was 45.6 54.9% were women. results are shown Figure 1. Overall, AUC WC 0.69 women 0.67 men, respectively, 0.63 both sexes. There substantial variation thresholds identified via Youden Index measure six world regions. outperform may be incorporated into LMICs timely detection resource allocation.

In addition to anaemia's adverse health consequences, the economic effect of anaemia on human capital results in the loss of billions of dollars annually. In this paper, we review the epidemiology, clinical assessment, pathophysiology, and conse...
