Identifying deep recycled carbonates through Miocene basalts in the Maguan area, SE Tibetan Plateau

چکیده
Cenozoic mantle-derived magmas are widespread on the Tibetan Plateau, and provide evidence for evolution of deep mantle its influence Plateau development. Miocene basalts in Maguan area southeastern have high MgO (9.13–13.10 wt%) Mg# (0.60–0.70) with Ce/Pb (10.6–32.5) Nb/U (43.7–52.9) ratios, similar to those oceanic basalts. Distinct from Eocene-Oligocene potassic Western Yunnan basic volcanic rocks Tengchong, these characterized by large ion lithophile elements (LILEs) concentrations, positive anomaly field strength (HFSEs) depleted SrNd isotopes, consistent melt an asthenospheric origin. The Nb/Y (1.80–2.68) ratios together low Ba/Y Ba/Th indicate a significant input slab-derived into source. Besides, Hf/Hf* Ti/Ti* significantly lower than ocean island basalt (OIB), which proportional lighter δ26Mg (-0.6‰ -0.4‰) values. Based results experimental petrology, SrMg isotope mixing model suggests that beneath had undergone metasomatism recycled carbonates prior late Miocene. above petrological geochemical understanding, geophysical data, allows us propose is most probably associated Neo-Tethys seafloor subduction, further testified decoupling between isotopes elevated LILE concentrations.

Phylogeography of Schizopygopsis stoliczkai (Cyprinidae) in Northwest Tibetan Plateau area
Schizopygopsis stoliczkai (Cyprinidae, subfamily Schizothoracinae) is one of the major freshwater fishes endemic to the northwestern margin of the Tibetan Plateau. In the current study, we used mitochondrial DNA markers cytochrome b (Cyt b) and 16S rRNA (16S), as well as the nuclear marker, the second intron of the nuclear beta-actin gene (Act2), to uncover the phylogeography of S. stoliczkai. ...
متن کاملThe first fossil brown lacewing from the Miocene of the Tibetan Plateau (Neuroptera, Hemerobiidae)
A new species of Hemerobiidae, Wesmaelius makarkini Yang, Pang & Ren, sp. n. is described from the Lower Miocene, Garang Formation of Zeku County, Qinghai Province (northeastern Tibetan Plateau), China. The species is assigned to the widely distributed extant genus Wesmaelius Krüger (Hemerobiinae). The species represents the first named fossil of this family from China, which sheds light on the...
متن کاملCrustal structure and deformation of the SE Tibetan plateau revealed by receiver function data
We analyze a large amount of receiver function data recorded by regional seismic networks of the China Earthquake Administration to estimate crustal structure and deformation beneath the southeast margin of the Tibetan plateau and its surrounding areas. We develop a comprehensive analysis method that facilitates robust extraction of azimuthal seismic anisotropy from receiver function data. The ...
متن کاملThe Coherence Analysis for Detecting the Subsidence at Permanent Frozen Area in Qinghai-tibetan Plateau
The surface displacement by seasonally freezing bulge and thawing subsidence are main hazards for engineering construction in permafrost regions, especially for the Qinghai-Tibet railway. For detecting the distortion at permafrost area, we try to study the interferometric method of monitoring the deformation at permafrost area with time-series EnviSat ASAR data. In this paper, the coherence cha...
متن کاملPeopling of the northern Tibetan Plateau
Early archaeological investigations on the Tibetan Plateau concluded that this harsh, high-elevation environment was successfully colonized around 30,000 years ago. Genetic studies have tended to support this view on the assumption that the uniquely evolved physiological capacities seen among modern Tibetan populations required long-term exposure to high-elevation selective pressures. Archaeolo...
