Identify Direct Lightning Strike Location Based on Discrete Wavelet Transform for 115-kV Transmission System

چکیده

This paper proposes three techniques for locating lightning strikes in a 115 kV transmission system over 88.5 km, based on the arrival time of transient wave obtained from discrete wavelet transform (DWT). The first technique calculates location ’type D’ travelling method. second analyses and same reflected-back between two substations. In third technique, sensors are installed to record times at each sensor. Case studies direct phase conductors (shielding failure) simulated using ’Alternative Transients Program/Electromagnetic Program’ (ATP/EMTP). influences parameters considered: inception angles, conductor, position which struck system. By performing an operation scheme all techniques, positive sequence current is calculated, three-phase ATP/EMTP program converted Clark’s transform. A extracted several scales DWT, orders both substations determined. After obtained, uses different order calculating location. comparing average error among it shown that sensors’ less than other techniques.
