چکیده
Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) is a grain legume crop from the tropics and subtropics cultivated for its highly nutritious seeds. Relatively low yields have been observed among African accession with little information on germplasm performance. Therefore, it needed to identify resilient germplasm, varieties or accessions improve agronomic This study assessed morphological variability selected of Nigerian pigeonpea potential lines improvement. A total 52 were evaluated using 10 qualitative 13 quantitative traits. They planted completely randomised design. Yield performance, trait correlation, principal component (PC), cluster analysis used breeding lines. The revealed wide both pigeonpeas clustered into three major groups. Four components eigenvalue > 1 accounted 68.95% variation observed. first PC 30.13% yield components, which include days 50% flowering, plant height, maturity, vigour at flowering as contributors. These traits also showed strong significant correlations between themselves. Hence, they can be improved simultaneously. identified several based performance that multilocational evaluations

Integrated Weed Management in Pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.]
Uncontrolled weeds cause considerable losses in the grain yield of pigeonpea. Field experiments were conducted for seven years from 1998 to 2004 on a loamy sand soil to study the effect of weed management on weeds, growth and grain yield of pigeonpea. In some years, weed dry matter was higher than in others, due to variation in rainfall received. Two hand weedings, pendimethalin in integration ...

Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) is an annual or short-lived perennial food legume of acute regional importance, providing significant protein to the human diet in less developed regions of Asia and Africa. Due to its narrow genetic base, pigeonpea improvement is increasingly reliant on introgression of valuable traits from wild forms, a practice that would benefit from knowledge of its domestication ...

Alcaligenes xylosoxydans protected pigeonpea from Fusarium wilt in a pot experiment and field trials. When seeds of pigeonpea (C. cajan) were treated with A. xylosoxydans and sown in soil infested with Fusarium, the incidence of wilt was reduced by 43.5% and resulted in 58% higher grain yield. The antifungal activity of A. xylosoxydans was based on chitinase production and was comparable in eff...
