چکیده

The risk of foodborne diseases as well the dissemination antibiotic resistant bacteria increases with consumption street-vended food and beverages. This study investigated prevalence Salmonella spp. Citrobacter in beverages sold Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method was used to identify resistance profile isolates towards 11 selected antibiotics. Six beverage samples were found positive for presumptive Upon confirmation via Microgen kit PCR biochemical testing methods, only one isolate confirmed be enterica serovar Derby while other identified (n= 12; 2 from each sample). antibiogram test showed that 58.3%, 16.7%, 8.3% strains tested tetracycline, cephalexin, ampicillin respectively, all fully toward penicillin erythromycin. highest MAR index (0.45) S231, five antibiotics (penicillin, erythromycin, ampicillin). Seven had a 0.27 three antibiotics, remaining four lowest (0.18) two shows have high spreading antibiotic-resistant public should considered emerging multidrug-resistant production system.

Antibiotic resistance of Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., and Yersinia spp. isolated in Quebec.

Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., and Yersinia spp. are important enteropathogenic bacteria. Antibiotic treatment is normally indicated for infections caused by Shigella spp. and only in the case of severe infections for Salmonella and Yersinia. Studies from a number of countries have reported the development of resistance of these bacteria to certain antibiotics. The new quinolones, such as cipr...

Listeria spp. in Street-Vended Ready-to-Eat Foods

Street-vended ready-to-eat food sold in Egypt, including sandwiches and dishes of traditional food, was examined for the presence of Listeria species. Out of 576 samples, 24% were found to contain Listeria species. L. monocytogenes and L. innocua were isolated from 57% and 39% of the contaminated samples, respectively. Other Listeria spp. were detected with lower frequency. L. monocytogenes of...
