Hysteretic performance of angle steel connections in a timber-concrete composite system

چکیده
Timber–concrete composite systems are widely used in Europe, North America, and Australasia, primarily due to their good mechanical performance terms of statics, dynamics, seismic response. In addition, the concrete slab provides excellent protection timber, making such suitable for outdoor application. The timber–concrete composites is normally governed by ductility energy dissipation capacity. However, few design codes address capacity systems, owing a lack reliable data. Therefore, further research on hysteretic necessary. this study, six specimens with an angle steel connection same size were investigated using reversed cyclic tests. corresponding failure modes observed, salient features connection, i.e., stiffness, ductility, dissipation, computed from test results. force mechanism under load was analyzed. Equations presented calculate yield negative step. A comparison results theoretical indicated agreement.

Seismic Performance of Steel Plate-Reinforced Concrete Composite Shear Wall
In tall buildings the reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall is one of the predominant structural components used to resist lateral loads induced by earthquakes around the world. Previous research demonstrated that shear walls displayed a sudden loss in lateral capacity due to the wall corner and web crushing in the plastic zone. In addition, it was found that large shear distortions in shear wall...
متن کاملSteel Concrete Composite Structures: State of Art
The aim of this review article is to examine solutions and challenges associated with composite construction. Structural steel and concrete, each of the two materials can be used to its best advantage and, therefore, composite structures have proved economical in terms of overall cost. Combination of steel and concrete systems has been conceived on the premises that each type of construction of...
متن کاملLoad-carrying behaviour of steel-to-timber dowel connections
This paper details tests on steel-wood-steel connections with thin dowels carried out at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Connections configurations were selected in such a way that the influence of the main parameters such as dowel slenderness ratio, dowel strength, fastener spacing and end distance and the number of dowels could be studied. An important issue of the pa...
متن کاملCapacity Assessment of Rectangular Concrete-Filled Steel Tube (RCFT) Members and Connections for Performance-Based Design of Composite Frames
This paper presents research documenting the local damage progression in rectangular concrete-filled steel tube beam-columns and connections in composite frames. Local damage is quantified through the development of damage indices based upon results of worldwide experiments. A fiber-based finite element formulation is also introduced for assessing global capacity and seismic demand.

Paper presents the main principals in designing wood-lightweight concrete composite floor structures using FEM models. All design-related analyses are performed by means of the FEA COSMOS/M program. Paper emphasises some important details in FEM model design (how to choose appropriate finite elements for different types of materials, how to connect concrete slab and timber beams to work togethe...
