Hyperthermia reduces electromechanical delay via accelerated electrochemical processes

چکیده
Hyperthermia (targeted core temperature: 38.5°C) reduces the time between gastrocnemius medialis stimulation and onset of plantar flexor force production in vivo. This reduction electromechanical delay is concomitant to an earlier motion muscle fascicle compared with thermoneutral environment. However, hyperthermia has no impact on duration transmission along aponeurosis tendon, thereby reflecting different effects heat exposure contractile elastic properties muscle-tendon unit.

Toward GPGPU accelerated human electromechanical cardiac simulations
In this paper, we look at the acceleration of weakly coupled electromechanics using the graphics processing unit (GPU). Specifically, we port to the GPU a number of components of CHeart--a CPU-based finite element code developed for simulating multi-physics problems. On the basis of a criterion of computational cost, we implemented on the GPU the ODE and PDE solution steps for the electrophysio...
متن کاملInfraspinatus Electromechanical Delay on Shoulder Instabilities
Shoulder instability is a major complaint in overhead athletes. The shoulder joint stability is provided mainly by rotator cuff muscles. The Electromechanical Delay (EMD) may be an important parameter in the responsiveness of a muscle. The aim of this study was to measure and compare the infraspinatus EMD in healthy and unstable shoulders and in dominant and non-dominant shoulders. We did not f...
متن کاملAccelerated decomposition techniques for large discounted Markov decision processes
Many hierarchical techniques to solve large Markov decision processes (MDPs) are based on the partition of the state space into strongly connected components (SCCs) that can be classified into some levels. In each level, smaller problems named restricted MDPs are solved, and then these partial solutions are combined to obtain the global solution. In this paper, we first propose a novel algorith...
متن کاملGold nanoparticle hyperthermia reduces radiotherapy dose.
UNLABELLED Gold nanoparticles can absorb near infrared light, resulting in heating and ablation of tumors. Gold nanoparticles have also been used for enhancing the X-ray dose to tumors. The combination of hyperthermia and radiotherapy is synergistic, importantly allowing a reduction in X-ray dose with improved therapeutic results. Here we intratumorally infused small 15 nm gold nanoparticles en...
متن کاملThe Effect of Bronchial Asthma on Interatrial Electromechanical Delay Coupling Obtained Using Tissue Doppler Imaging
Background: Asthma is a predisposing factor for the development of atrial fibrillation. Asthma disturbs the electrophysiology in the right and left atrium. The aim of this study was to evaluate atrial electromechanical delay by coupling obtained from tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) in children. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 50 patients with Bronchial Asthma, compared with 50 hea...
