Hyperreflective dots in optical coherence tomography

نویسندگان

چکیده

Optical coherence tomography is a non-invasive and repeatable imaging method of posterior segment the eye used in medical practice. Hyperreflective dots visible OCT scans have been reported various retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic edema, vein occlusion central serous chorioretinopathy. In future, HRDs may become useful biomarker making treatment decision monitoring ocular conditions among patients with mentioned diseases.

The Causes of Hyperreflective Dots in Optical Coherence Tomography Excluding Diabetic Macular Edema and Retinal Venous Occlusion§§

PURPOSE To investigate the causes of hyperreflective dots (HRDs) in spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) excluding diabetic macular edema (DME) and RVO (retinal vein occlusion). PATIENTS AND METHODS The medical records of 56 patients with HRDs documented by OCT were reviewed retrospectively. The patients with DME and RVO were excluded from the study in order to prevent misdiagno...

Association Between Hyperreflective Dots on Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography in Macular Edema and Response to Treatment.

Purpose To investigate the association between hyperreflective dots (HRDs) on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and response to intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) or dexamethasone injection in eyes with diabetic macular edema (DME) or macular edema due to retinal vein occlusion (RVO). Methods A retrospective review was conducted involving patients with DME or macular edema due...

Clinical Applications of Optical Coherence Tomography in Ophthalmology

Assessment of the peripapillary nerve fiber layer and macular thickness can be determined in ophthalmology using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Decreased nerve fiber layer thickness and macular ganglion cell thickness in optic nerve ischemia have been correlated with visual field loss. OCT allows deep optic nerve head evaluation which helps understand pathophysiology of diseases.  Furtherm...

Experimental Visualization of Labyrinthine Structure with Optical Coherence Tomography

Introduction:Visualization of inner ear structures is a valuable strategy for researchers and clinicians working on hearing pathologies. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a high-resolution imaging technology which may be used for the visualization of tissues. In this experimental study we aimed to evaluate inner ear anatomy in well-prepared human labyrinthine bones.Materials and Methods:Thr...

Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a noninvasive approach that can visualize blood vessels down to the capillary level. With the advent of high-speed OCT and efficient algorithms, practical OCTA of ocular circulation is now available to ophthalmologists. Clinical investigations that used OCTA have increased exponentially in the past few years. This review will cover the history ...
