Hydrolysis of imidazoline based corrosion inhibitor and effects on inhibition performance of X65 steel in CO2 saturated brine

The molecular characteristics of a TOFA/DETA based imidazoline inhibitor were evaluated by analysing the protonation profile, CMC and micelle size rate acid-catalysed hydrolysis to improve understanding corrosion inhibition performance main component its products. ability products in retarding both uniform localized assessed compared on wet-ground X65 carbon steel at 80 °C CO2 saturated 3 wt % NaCl brines. findings indicate that forms micellar solutions, with characteristic 18 ± 9 nm (10 1 ppm) brines, under such conditions (pH~4.1), is fully protonated which increases solubility/dispersibility enhances adsorption positively charged metal surface thereby improving performance. Hydrolysis amido-amine consumption follows pseudo-first-order reaction mechanism an activation energy 72.0 2.9 kJ mol-1. study concludes pre-aged has different effects behavior steel.
