چکیده
Hydrothermal carbonization converts organic wastes into potentially soil-improving solids. The nutrient-rich process waters generated are prospective fertilizers. Two hydrochars were produced from maize (Zea mays L.) biogas digestate after 1 or 6 h of carbonization. Nutrient concentrations the digestate, hydrochars, and determined. A 28-d incubation, in which added to a sandy loam soil, assessed their effects on microbial biomass, community composition, respiration, nitrification. became enriched Fe Zn but featured lower macronutrient than feedstock. application as fertilizers could be hindered by electrical conductivity nitrite levels. All amendments stimulated nitrification C mineralization. losses latter add during hydrochar production. Growth biomass was induced particularly due its high bioavailable fractions nutrients. Fungal thrived hydrochar-amended soils, possibly combination aromaticity elevated micronutrient concentrations. separate 56-d incubation tested amendments’ impact metal bioavailability an artificially contaminated substrate. In reducing Cd, Cu, less effective whose likely led increased complexation sorption. However, substrate permitted superior growth; higher surface area porosity may have provided improved habitat. Hydrochar soils benefit hydrothermal is not advantageous where goal sequestration increasing feedstock nutrient availability.

microbial community structure and diversity in long-term hydrocarbon and heavy metal contaminated soils
the influence of long-term mixed organic and inorganic contamination on soil microbial activity, community structure and genetic diversity was investigated in soil samples from a coke oven plant located in upper silesia, poland. the tested soils were heavily contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (pahs) and heavy metals. the microbial communities were characterized using the phospho...
متن کاملMicrobial reporters of metal bioavailability
When attempting to assess the extent and the implications of environmental pollution, it is often essential to quantify not only the total concentration of the studied contaminant but also its bioavailable fraction: higher bioavailability, often correlated with increased mobility, signifies enhanced risk but may also facilitate bioremediation. Genetically engineered microorganisms, tailored to ...

Impacts of heavy metal contamination and phytoremediation on a microbial community during a twelve-month microcosm experiment.
The effects of heavy metals and phytoextraction practices on a soil microbial community were studied during 12 months using a hyperaccumulating plant (Thlaspi caerulescens) grown in an artificially contaminated soil. The 16S ribosomal RNA genes of the Bacteria and the beta-Proteobacteria and the amoA gene (encoding the alpha-subunit of ammonia monooxygenase) were PCR-amplified and analysed by d...
متن کاملA Review on Impact of E-waste on Soil Microbial Community and Ecosystem Function
The ever increasing pile-up of electronic waste in dumping sites, especially in developing countries such as China, Pakistan, India and several African countries, might have caused a significant alteration in the microbial community of the contaminated sites. This change in the microbial population may have significant impact to the soil ecology function. The major pollutants of electronic wast...
