چکیده

We present a synthetic hydraulic analysis of the propagation oscillatory perturbations in two-dimensional saturated zone bounded above by capillary fringe. Unsaturated flows are simulated physical model using hysteretic form Richards' equation parameterized van Genuchten water retention curve and Mualem conductivity for sand, loam, intermediate soil. Soil type affects periodic responses as function their hydrodynamic properties. first analyze effect various or signal properties on at different locations depths. then test imaging potential recorded to spatially charaterize homogeneous heterogeneous soils, also considering period oscillation. find that separation these into amplitude/phase couples permits dissociate characterization Periodic amplitudes decay with distance mainly phase lags decrease frequency due storage Thus, amplitude appears be especially sensitive K, which allows isolate this property from others. Phases can used better characterize vertical effect, through Van parameters α n. Higher periods will tend accentuate unsaturated therefore adopted However, low-period useful, they provide estimates values media low heterogeneities. consider work useful preliminary future sandbox field real cases applications advices such discussion.

A Slug Test for Determining Hydraulic Conductivity of Unconfined Aquifers With Completely or Partially Penetrating Wells

A procedure is presented for calculating the hydraulic conductivity of an aquifer near a well from the rate of rise of the water level in the well after a certain volume of water is suddenly removed. The calculation is based on the Thiem equation of steady state flow to a welL. The effective radius Re over which the head difference between the equilibrium water table in the aquifer and the wate...

3-D Transient Hydraulic Tomography in Unconfined Aquifers with Fast Drainage Response

[1] We investigate, through numerical experiments, the viability of three-dimensional transient hydraulic tomography (3DTHT) for identifying the spatial distribution of groundwater flow parameters (primarily, hydraulic conductivity K) in permeable, unconfined aquifers. To invert the large amount of transient data collected from 3DTHT surveys, we utilize an iterative geostatistical inversion str...

A potential-based inversion of unconfined steady-state hydraulic tomography.

The importance of estimating spatially variable aquifer parameters such as transmissivity is widely recognized for studies in resource evaluation and contaminant transport. A useful approach for mapping such parameters is inverse modeling of data from series of pumping tests, that is, via hydraulic tomography. This inversion of field hydraulic tomographic data requires development of numerical ...
