HYDATIDOSIS: A MYSTERY BOX AT VARIOUS SITES

Introduction: Hydatid disease caused by the larvae of cestode Echinococcus, occurs worldwide. Although, hydatid can occur at any site, liver (59-75%), lung (27%) and spleen are most commonly affected organs. Clinical suspicion along with radiological findings help in diagnosis hydatid. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) plays an important role for initial diagnosis, while histopathology is confirmatory. Aims:This study was carried out to know various possible sites understand approach towards diagnosis. Materials Methods: The present a retrospective five years cross-sectional study, Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital, Department Pathology. Total 24 cases were found have hydatidosis. Results: maximum 12 (50%) seen 41-60 age. as common site cyst (11 – 46%), followed (25%) (17%). Conclusion: Hydatidosis worldwide human dead-end host. FNAC easy, feasible way diagnose Histopathology key autopsy cases.
