Hybrid thermoelectric-photovoltaic solar harvesters: technological and economic issues

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract The possibility of recovering heat released by photovoltaic (PV) solar cells into electric power using thermoelectric generators has attracted a remarkable research effort over the last two decades. Views and results are not fully converging, however, ranging from overoptimistic estimates gains to negative opinions about convenience hybridization. aim this paper is review both energetic economic profitability photovoltaic-thermoelectric hybridization, as issues be considered in design hybrid harvesters. It will shown how PV material rules total system efficiency its competitiveness compared standard modules. Marginal opportunities reported for roof-top concentrated Yet, hybridization may leverage novel materials, currently due their lower polycrystalline silicon. Much more significant instead window opportunity when coupled perovskite cells.

Lossless hybridization between photovoltaic and thermoelectric devices

The optimal hybridization of photovoltaic (PV) and thermoelectric (TE) devices has long been considered ideal for the efficient harnessing solar energy. Our hybrid approach uses full spectrum solar energy via lossless coupling between PV and TE devices while collecting waste energy from thermalization and transmission losses from PV devices. Achieving lossless coupling makes the power output fr...
