Hybrid T-Shaped Sensor Array Composed of Acoustic Vector Sensors and Scalar Sensors

Through the more available acoustic information or polarization provided, vector sensor arrays outperform scalar in accuracy of localization. However, cost a array is higher than that array. To reduce two-dimensional (2-D) array, hybrid T-shaped consisting two orthogonal uniform linear (ULAs) proposed, where one ULA composed sensors and other sensors. By utilizing cross-correlation tensor between received signals from ULAs, virtual rectangular (URAs) are obtained, they can be combined into larger URA. It shown URA with M2+1 degrees freedom (DOFs) obtained specially designed M 2M Furthermore, by means proposed model for URA, inter-sensor spacing allowed to exceed greatly half-wavelength. Accordingly, method achieve both high DOF large aperture. Simulation results show has better performance 2-D direction-of-arrival estimation some existing methods under same cost.
