چکیده

Castleman’s disease is a rare non-neoplastic lymphoproliferative disorder of unknown origin. It classified into unicentric or multicentric based on its anatomical distribution. Multicentric can be subdivided according to the presence human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) infection. has incidence, and HHV-8-positive even rarer. There are several types natural course for this disease, rapidly progressing type lead death within few weeks, emphasizing need prompt diagnosis treatment. We report recent case from Korea, presenting with multiple lymphadenopathies, confirmed as through biopsy, achieving complete response rituximab monotherapy.

Initial human herpesvirus-8 rash and multicentric Castleman disease.

We describe a human immunodeficiency virus-infected man with relapsing rashes and reactivation of human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) infection, which evolved into multicentric Castleman disease. Initial skin biopsy revealed infiltrating HHV-8-positive plasmablasts, a subset of which supported lytic infection. We document the first case, to our knowledge, of HHV-8-induced rash and suggest that circulat...

Complete remission in 4 patients with human herpesvirus 8-associated multicentric Castleman disease using rituximab and liposomal doxorubicin, a novel chemotherapy combination.

Plasmablastic-type multicentric Castleman disease (PMCD) is a rare, aggressive lymphoproliferative disorder first described by Frizzera and colleagues in 1983.1 Today, the disease is most commonly diagnosed in individuals infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) type 1. It has been shown that PMCD is associated with Kaposi sarcoma, and a majority of patients with both conditions are inf...

Human Herpesvirus-8 Infection Associated with Kaposi Sarcoma, Multicentric Castleman's Disease, and Plasmablastic Microlymphoma in a Man with AIDS: A Case Report with Review of Pathophysiologic Processes

Kaposi sarcoma (KS), multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD), and plasmablastic microlymphoma, are all linked to human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) infection and HIV-induced immunodeficiency. Herein, we describe the case of a Kenyan man diagnosed with HIV in 2000. He deferred highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) and remained in good health until his CD4+ count declined in 2006. He was hospitali...

Unique expression pattern of viral proteins in human herpesvirus 8-positive plasmablastic lymphoma: a case report.

BACKGROUND Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV8)-positive plasmablastic lymphoma is a disease which correlates with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Little is known about the pathogenesis of the disease due to its rarity. We report an autopsy case about AIDS related HHV-8-positive plasmablastic lymphoma and presents an examination about HHV8 related proteins for the disease by using immunohistoc...

Human herpesvirus 8 infection in patients with POEMS syndrome-associated multicentric Castleman's disease.

The polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, M protein, skin changes (POEMS) syndrome is a rare multisystemic disorder associated with osteosclerotic myeloma and multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD). Human herpesvirus type 8 (HHV-8) DNA sequences have been detected in lymph nodes of about 40% of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-negative patients with MCD, and in bone marrow stromal cel...
